1. JOB DESCRIPTION

We are looking for a Senior Power BI Developer to design, build, and maintain enterprise-grade Power BI platforms for our clients. You will lead semantic model design, build performant reports and dashboards, and engage directly with business stakeholders to translate requirements into trustworthy reporting outcomes.

This is a remote position. You must be able to work standard Australian Eastern Standard Time hours and collaborate effectively with our Australia-based team and clients.

- Design and develop Power BI semantic models, reports, and dashboards to enterprise standards.

- Build dimensional models using Kimball methodology, including star schemas, conformed dimensions, and fact table design.

- Write performant DAX measures with correct business definitions, including time intelligence, ratios, and safety or operational KPIs.

- Write and optimise SQL for source extraction, transformation, and validation.

- Engage directly with client stakeholders to gather requirements, challenge assumptions, and confirm measure definitions.

- Conduct data quality reviews and identify issues such as incorrect denominators, broken relationships, or misaligned business logic.

- Document semantic models, measures, lineage, and report logic to a standard another developer can pick up and maintain.

- Contribute to platform standards, naming conventions, and source control practices.

- Support deployment workflows including Power BI Projects, Fabric Git integration, and pipeline-based promotion.

- Mentor more junior developers on modelling, DAX, and delivery practices.


2. REQUIREMENTS

- 5+ years of hands-on Power BI development experience.

- Strong dimensional data modelling skills, including Kimball methodology and star schema design.

- Strong SQL skills (T-SQL, ANSI SQL, or equivalent), including window functions, CTEs, and query tuning.

- Excellent written and spoken English, with the ability to communicate clearly with senior business stakeholders.

- Strong business acumen, with the ability to interpret operational, financial, and commercial requirements.

- Meticulous attention to detail, particularly around measure definitions, data quality, and visual accuracy.

- Proven ability to work autonomously in a remote environment and deliver to deadlines without close supervision.

- Comfortable owning the full delivery cycle from requirements through to production handover.

- Highly Regarded:

+) Microsoft Fabric experience, including lakehouses, warehouses, semantic models, and Direct Lake.

+) Tabular Editor and DAX Studio proficiency.

+) Power BI Projects (.pbip) and source control workflows using Git.

+) Experience with Databricks, Unity Catalog, or modern lakehouse platforms.

+) Experience working in a consulting or client-facing delivery environment.

+) Industry exposure to retail, healthcare, facility services, professional services, or financial services.
